มณฑลกวั่งตง (Guangdong) หรือที่คนไทยรู้จักกันในชื่อ กวางตุ้ง เป็นมณฑลที่ถูกพัฒนาทางเศรษฐกิจเพื่อก้าวเข้าสู่ตลาดโลกตั้งแต่ ค.ศ.1978 ผ่านนโยบาย The Pearl River Delta โดย Deng Xiaoping ผ่าน National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) ด้วยนโยบายนี้เอง กวางตุ้งจึงมีท่าเรือขนาดใหญ่เป็นช่องทางนำเข้าและส่งออกสินค้าที่สำคัญทางภาคใต้ของจีน ส่งผลให้ปัจจุบันมณฑลกวางตุ้งเป็นหัวเมืองหลักและเป็นผู้นำทางเศรษฐกิจในตอนใต้ของจีนจนถึงปัจจุบัน

เมืองกวางโจว (Guangzhou) หรือ กวางเจา เป็นเมืองหลวงของมณฑลกวางตุ้ง ซึ่งถูกพัฒนาตามกาลเวลาจนกลายเป็นศูนย์กลางการค้าและการกระจายสินค้าขนาดใหญ่ ไม่ว่าจะเป็น สินค้าแฟชั่น เครื่องใช้ไฟฟ้าและเทคโนโลยี หรือผลไม้สด และที่ไม่กล่าวถึงมิได้อีกเมืองหนึ่งคือเมืองรองข้างสะเอวกวางโจวอย่างเมืองฝอซาน (Foshan) ก็เป็นที่น่าสนใจมิใช่น้อย เพราะเป็นเมืองแห่งการผลิตเฟอร์นิเจอร์ ของตกแต่งบ้าน สุขภัณฑ์ และวัสดุก่อสร้าง ด้วยเหตุนี้มณฑลกวางตุ้งจึงเป็นที่น่าสนใจของนักธุรกิจ พ่อค้าแม่ขายจากทั่วทุกมุมโลก

In 1978 the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) headed by Deng Xiaoping released the plan called The Pearl River Delta, the vanguard of China's economic reforms, to take advantage of the Guangdong's convenient location by the ocean, build the harbor for the logistic system, take the lead as the country's economic reform deepens and open wider to the world. This policy has enabled the province to become China's largest exporter, as well as its largest importer of goods, thus one of the most prosperous economies to emerge. Deng Xiaoping's open door policy radically changed the economy of the province as it was able to take advantage of its access to the ocean and became one of the biggest product distribution centers in the world exporting everything from fashion products, electrical appliances to fruits and and other consumable goods.

Another interesting city within Guangdong that cannot be ignored is Foshan. Many products and materials including construction materials and decorative items are produced here. By those reasons, Guangdong has become an interesting junction for traders and buyers from all around the world.

นอกจากสองเมืองดังกล่าว มณฑลกวางตุ้งยังมีเมืองสร้างชื่ออย่างเซินเจิ่น (Shenzhen) และสองเมืองเขตเศรษฐกิจพิเศษเกาะมาเก๊า (Macau) และเกาะฮ่องกง (Hong Kong) ด้วยการผนึกกำลังของเมืองหลัก ส่งผลให้มณฑลนี้นำเม็ดเงินเข้าและออกจีนอย่างมหาศาล เป็นเมืองผู้นำทางเศรษฐกิจอันดับ 4 รองจากญี่ปุ่น เกาหลีใต้ และอินเดียเท่านั้น

Also within Guangdong lies the famous city Shenzhen, with the special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau bordering the province. The combined economic output of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao alone makes the group the fourth-largest economy in Asia after Japan, the Republic of Korea and India.

ขีดความสามารถของมณฑลกวางตุ้งไม่ใช่เพียงแค่แหล่งขายส่งสินค้าหมวดต่างๆ แต่ยังสามารถผลิตสินค้าตามความต้องการของแบรนด์ต่างๆทั่วโลกเพื่อรองรับอุตสาหกรรม ในการนำไปต่อยอดในส่วนของฐานการผลิตในประเทศนั้นๆ และด้วยประสบการณ์นี้ของมณฑลกวางตุ้ง กาลเวลาผ่านไปมณฑลนี้จึงปรับจากการรับจ้างผลิตสินค้าเกรดต่ำ พัฒนาเป็นการผลิตด้วย Hi-Technology สร้าง Value-added ผ่าน Innovation อย่างต่อเนื่อง นอกจากมีกำลังการผลิตสูงจนเป็นฐานการผลิตใหญ่แห่งหนึ่งของโลกแล้ว กำลังซื้อของตลาดกวางตุ้งก็พุ่งสูงตามเศรษฐกิจไปด้วยเช่นกัน

The abilities of Guangdong cannot solely be measured by the various of products available without accounting for the high-tech industry that has developed, producing the products to meet the requirements of customers to support the global industry. This change experienced in Guangdong, has shown that the province isn't just a factory for low grade products, it has since developed to be an innovative industry leader with value-added through high technology innovation. Besides being a high capacity and huge manufacturing base of the world that made the economy of Guangdong the biggest in China it has also had an immensely positive effect on the needs of local consumers around the world.
